Research
Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories has been instrumental in advancing the development of a number of client technologies, including oil, gas, mining, metal, industrial processes, chemical and consumer products, pharmaceuticals, and environmental monitoring technologies. In addition, the firm has been successful at leveraging research funding to advance technologies emanating from its own research activities. This has resulted in the development of a significant technology portfolio (see Technology Development). Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories’s scientists are dedicated to the process of discovery and are focused on gaining a knowledge and understanding of the events, behaviors, theories, or laws that may be translated to real-world applications. This systematic process of inquiry has been applied to both basic and applied research.
Basic Research
Basic research is exploratory in nature. It is purely focused on the advancement of knowledge and, while it may produce a result that points to an application, it is often conducted with no specific result in mind. Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories has experience in experimental design to advance knowledge at this basic level. Further, the company’s scientists approach each project with the intent of building a secure foundation for applied research activities that may one day lead to marketable products, processes, or materials.
Applied Research
The primary aim of applied research is not to gain knowledge for its own sake but to produce specific results that are often predetermined. New processes, methods, or materials are designed, researched, and validated to meet a specific technological requirement and/or market. Common areas of applied research include electronics, informatics, material science, process engineering, and drug design. The scientists at Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories have earned a reputation for providing innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems presented by its clientele. Applications in synthetic chemistry have resulted in new materials and molecules for neurobiology, drug delivery, imaging, immunoassay, disinfection/infection control, sterility maintenance, and protection against threats from chemical and biological warfare agents. New or unresolved analytical challenges have been met through the integration of automated and classical methods.
Analysis
Since its inception, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories has developed an extensive capability to meet client need. From product quality, to custom analytical services, to environmental testing, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories strives to provide the highest quality and scientifically defensible data available. Typical methods employed are those developed by EPA, AWWA, USP, AOAC, ASTM, OSHA, and NIOSH. Alternate methods are available through a number of agencies, organisations and journals. In addition, new procedures may be developed and validated when existing procedures do not apply. Dedication to understanding what is to be measured has enhanced Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories’s ability to provide meaningful data to its clients.
Product Quality
Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories provides the technical capability to verify product ingredients, identify contaminants or characterise new materials. Appropriate techniques have been employed to evaluate a number of products and materials including chemical intermediates, finished consumer products, and pharmaceuticals. Regardless of the matrix or the industry, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories employs a sound scientific approach to meet specific project needs.
Contaminant Identification
Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories has excellent analytical capabilities in performing identification of contaminants for a myriad of products and matrices. Skill at identifying unknown substances, chemical intermediates, or by-products is complimented by a well-equipped laboratory from FTIR to LC/MS.
Environmental
Municipalities, manufacturing firms, engineering and consulting firms, and government agencies trust Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories to provide accurate and timely environmental data. Dedication to maintaining a high standard of quality has resulted in a rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control system that ensures the validity of every result. Whether soil, sediment, sludge, air, water, storm water, or wastewater, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories offers a comprehensive suite of environmental testing services.

Consultation
Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories provides innovative and cost-effective solutions to problems encountered by its clients during product research, design, development, processing, manufacturing, and delivery. Whether in the identification of a failure, unknown, or contaminant, or in the development or optimisation of a new method or process, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories ’s suite of technical services extend well beyond the boundaries of the traditional analytical laboratory. The company’s scientists rely upon creativity, knowledge, and a diverse set of experiences to create innovative solutions while remaining grounded in sound science. Key services include:
Deformulation/Reverse Engineering—disassembly of materials to identify and quantify (or semi-quantify) their basic components—used in patent protection and infringement cases, as well as a form of competitive product and technology platform research. (Please note: The use of information produced during a commercial product deformulation project may be subject to both domestic and international laws and regulations. This information should be used only after careful consideration of all applicable intellectual property laws and best practices.)
Method Development/Validation—development and validation of new and innovative analytical techniques to measure the contents or properties of materials or the qualities and performance of a process.
Method Optimisation—modifications to an existing method to increase sensitivity or expand scope—may include adapting to alternate techniques.
Contaminant Identification—identification of unknowns in materials and processes that may have an impact on product quality, performance, or aesthetics.
Material Testing—analysis and characterisation of key processes and materials including finished products, raw materials, additives, and intermediates to assist in research, manufacturing, product development, failure, and improvement projects.

Market Focus
Technologies cut across traditional industry and market boundaries. Thus, Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories’s market focus is not so much on a traditional set of customers, but on a set of activities: research, analysis, characterisation, and development of innovative methods, materials, and instrumentation. Emphasis is placed on concurrent engineering in order to blend the realities of production within the facility, process, regulatory, and cost constraints of the technology’s end-user. This approach is applied to both client technologies and those emanating from Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories’s own technology portfolio.
Intellectual Property Strategy
Uzbek Petro Gas Laboratories considers intellectual property to be an integral part of its business strategy; however, it does not consider any single patent, or related group of patents, to be of such importance that its expiration or termination would jeopardise the future of the company. Patent protection for inventions and developments made by its personnel will be incorporated into the product/service mix falling within its fields of interest. Some technologies are protected as trade secret and, where appropriate, trademarked or registered.
